Flake ice is a granular type of ice, different from a dice cube, well suited to spreading over a display (fresh fish, buffet spreads) or filling irregular spaces where cube ice would leave gaps. It is also used in research labs, bio-medical, life sciences and healthcare applications where a moist, mouldable ice is needed.
The Trufrost self-contained ice flaker has the storage bin built into the unit, five models scaling from 20 to 200 kg per day. All produce the same granular flake ice type; the difference across the range is purely production and storage capacity.
The IF 20 through IF 120 run on R134a. The IF 200, the largest self-contained model, is the exception, worth confirming its refrigerant with Trufrost if it matters for your servicing arrangement, otherwise treated the same as the rest of this self-contained range.
Who it suits: hotels running buffets, restaurants and fish counters needing display ice, and research or medical facilities needing flake ice for sample handling.

What is flake ice used for?

How is this different from a dice ice machine?
Flake ice is granular and moist, suited to display and packing around irregular shapes. Dice ice is solid cubes, suited to drinks. Choose based on your actual use case, not just capacity.
